“I’ve attempted to develop a relaxed street aesthetic through focus to texture, colors, and silhouette, and detailing derived from a mix of American and Korean componets." - Hye Gin Hamm
Amok at the Chateau.
“The fashion industry is retarded. It doesn’t make sense. There is too much product out there and when you’re a wholesale business it’s really impossible to resolve. You can’t, because if you want to be in a store like Barney’s, you can’t just deliver twice a year. You can’t just have two runway shows.” -Scott Sternberg
Band Of Outsiders Spring 2014
WHEN IT COMES to fashion shows, Scott Sternberg is nothing but original!.
Okay so let me give you the details, they actually live streamed this collection from Hotel Chateau Marmont's Rm. 29. The show was prepped to depict the lifestyle of a touring musician. Folk musician Devendra Banhart was the model elected to not leave the room until all 20 outfits were tried on and modeled about.
If you know anything about K.J.(ME) you know there is nothing I love more than suburban Preppywear with a little bit of city boy chic!
Yes Yes Yes i was in Menswear Heaven!
Band Of Outsiders
Hood By Air
"The tees would say ‘HOOD.' They were something we'd rock around town, almost to be obnoxious. We'd be running around wearing heels with parts down the middle of our hair, but wearing these t-shirts that said ‘Hood,' just to mix it up. I'd sometimes get into altercations with people over [the shirts], but at least I knew there was power in something I made." -Shayne Oliver
This is NYFW Hood By Air Spring 2014 Collection. This is the best Collection i have seen in a very long time. Not only is it innovative and different but very trendsetting.
Hood By Air started in 2006 with just "HOOD"graphic t-shirts, and now is one of the most exciting street wear brands today. Designer Shayne Oliver did not give us the typical streetwear collection, with oversized sweaters and high-top sneakers. He gave us High Fashion.
The show was Titled “Gump” and during the show you could hear booms and clashes that sounded like scraping metals. There were plenty of logos, lots of zippers, button downs, and nylon ropes inspired by Asian parachutist uniforms that brought a dark edge to the collection.
Androgyny was an understatement. The ambiguity of models and pieces that were put together, like the skirts and shorts; brought an interesting no gender at all edge.
Shayne Oliver is a one of a kind designer. I'm very excited to see what he will come up with next!
Music=Fashion
"When I was in middle school, I liked punk rock, and I started to become interested in clothes because I wanted to wear the same clothes as my favorite singers. Therefore, the simple rule of "music=fashion" has not changed for me." -Takeshi Osumi
This is PHENOMENON 2013 Spring/Summer Tokyo ready to wear Collection.
Phenomenon was founded in 2004. What i love about Takeshi Osumi is, his collection is very unique to be a street wear brand. The concept of Phenomenon is Music. His clothes have an influence of hip-hop and urban life, but there is still beauty in every look.
In Spring/Summer 2013, Phenomenon gave us color blocking, clean lines, and smooth patterns. This collection is what K.J. stands for. (K.J. is me by the way) He made summer look fresh, clean and put together. Phenomenon has alittle for everybody; want some glamour in your look he has that. Want some edge with camouflage prints he has that to. I see why this brand is really popular among the Japanese boys because it is amazing!
Travel in Style
"I do this job for only one reason: to see my collection on people," says Mattiussi.
Its crazy to think its only been two years since the French designer Alexandre Mattiussi started his Ami fashion line. Before Ami he was working for Dior, Givenchy and Marc Jacobs. Alexandre has taken over and is becoming known for his fun, elegant, and well tailored sportswear.
The backdrop of the Ami 2014 spring runway show was a recreation of a 1950 retro chic French airport.
Mattiussi took the slogan flying with style literally. In the fifties men and women dressed up to fly. When you walked into the airport you would see a mix of businessmen in suits, young men hustling through the terminal with shirts tied around their waists, and men with bright tropical printed shirts on their way to holiday vacation.
This show wasn't necessarily about creating a new outlook on fashion. It was about having an entire collection of classics. What i love the most is that every look is sophisticated yet comfortable and put together!
Fresh
"If someone realizes the piece they are wearing is inspired by me then it only broadens my audience."
-Alexander Wang
2014 Spring Menswear Collection
Leather in Summer? That is all i see this season. Growing up if i wanted to wear leather/Suede my mother would say it was unacceptable in spring/summer. Today it is very much accepted!
Alexander brought a fresh new edge to Spring/Summer. The way he cut and diced the leather and added it to every piece is exciting to me. Wang made leather look clean, light and free, which is very important for summer. Alexander Wang always stays true to its casual athletic edge, and i love love love him for it.
COLOR COLOR COLOR
"When Christopher Shannon was a kid going out to clubs in Liverpool and Manchester he always wanted to dress up and stand out. A cheap way of doing this was a little glitter spray so we took inspiration from Christopher's love of glitter and the super club scene and completely covered the model's heads in coloured glitter and finishing it off with our Fudge Glitter Blast hair spray,"
-John Vial Stylist and Fudge creative director.
Today Christopher Shannon showed his London 2014 Spring Collection!
As someone who loves and studies fashion i am very particular on what I wear. This is the first runway show I've viewed, and genuinely liked and wanted to wear every single piece. I'm all for Mixing Urban, Preppy and a little bit of the future together, and that's what he did.
My favorite piece is the Sneakers, they are made to look like Sandals with socks. The bold Color choices, Patterns, and adding Suede to spring made me very excited for the future of menswear!
I absolutely love everything about this collection!
