FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

" I seek to work in a rigorous yet balanced fashion. Balance is the basis for my creativity—soft/tailored, sexy/strict, rich/pure. " - Alexandre Vauthier

In honor of American Football, I had to cover the super Dope Alexandre Vauthier collection!

No need for lots of accessories, the students did the job!

Inspired by sports, he turned an everyday football practice into a High Fashion Photo shoot! His look book was Filled with Sequins, Bold Colors, sophisticated styling, and Tailored looks!

What Is fun about Alexandre is even though he is a Couture based designer, he still put his couture twists on his silhouettes. (Like attaching the comberbun to the red slightly drop crotch tuxedo pants.)

Alexandre Vauthier is the definition of Sporty Chic!

Denim Denim Denim and more Denim

“I’ve attempted to develop a relaxed street aesthetic through focus to texture, colors, and silhouette, and detailing derived from a mix of American and Korean componets." - Hye Gin Hamm

For once I don't have much to say, because her work speaks for itself.

Out of all the collections I've seen this season so far, I would wear this one first with no hesitation. Every piece is detailed and well thought out.

Designer Hye Gin Hamm is a Graduating student from Parsons, where she was awarded the opportunity to showcase her collection in a competition " Empowering Imagination "for the industry during fashion week. HAMM not only moved the judges but the audience with her use of 100% Cotton Denim for her entire Collection! Hye stone washed and bleached her collection herself to give it that ombre look. She is Sooooo Talented, LOVE this!

Amok at the Chateau.

“The fashion industry is retarded. It doesn’t make sense. There is too much product out there and when you’re a wholesale business it’s really impossible to resolve. You can’t, because if you want to be in a store like Barney’s, you can’t just deliver twice a year. You can’t just have two runway shows.” -Scott Sternberg

Band Of Outsiders Spring 2014

WHEN IT COMES to fashion shows, Scott Sternberg is nothing but original!.

Okay so let me give you the details, they actually live streamed this collection from Hotel Chateau Marmont's Rm. 29.  The show was prepped to depict the lifestyle of a touring musician. Folk musician Devendra Banhart was the model elected to not leave the room until all 20 outfits were tried on and modeled about.

If you know anything about K.J.(ME) you know there is nothing I love more than suburban Preppywear with a little bit of city boy chic!

Yes Yes Yes i was in Menswear Heaven!

UNTAILORED

“All of our designs—you can pull them over your head, you can wash them, and they can go in the dryer. It’s an effortless kind of styling.” - Jenna

I would never guess Ace & Jig started in 2010, viewing this well made Spring 2014 RTW collection. Designers Cary Vaughan and Jenna Wilson met September 10, 2001.

"Through the years, we worked together at different jobs and had a design team that moved with us. We got married around the same time, we were each other's bridesmaids, we had kids around the same time- it's kind of awesome," Cary says " We lived together for a while, and when we didn't live together, we lived two blocks from each other in East Village," Jenna adds. " Now we both live in Brooklyn."

There are two very special things about Ace & Jig. One being (Ace & Jig) are the initials of their first born children Alice an James. Two is the use of custom made cotton textiles to create comfortable, yet beautiful silhouettes, and patterns, like the checkered top for instance.

At first glance you would think these clothes could only be worn in a casual setting. BUT you would be wrong! ;) The way this line was constructed untailored or not, each individual piece can be styled up or down per occasion!

Fresh

"If someone realizes the piece they are wearing is inspired by me then it only broadens my audience."

-Alexander Wang

2014 Spring Menswear Collection

Leather in Summer? That is all i see this season. Growing up if i wanted to wear leather/Suede my mother would say it was unacceptable in spring/summer. Today it is very much accepted!

Alexander brought a fresh new edge to Spring/Summer. The way he cut and diced the leather and added it to every piece is exciting to me. Wang made leather look clean, light and free, which is very important for summer. Alexander Wang always stays true to its casual athletic edge, and i love love love him for it.

BUGGING OUT

"I wanted my designs to express two distinct and opposing sides of women, the strong and independent side alongside the fragile and ephemeral side.” -Mug

 G.V.G.V (GrapeVine, GrapeVine)

There is nothing i love more than Women in Menswear. Designer Mug helped my fantasy's come true.  GrapeVine's Japan collection is feminine with an androgynous edge..

This is G.V.G.V's answer to high-end American sportswear. The inspiration for the Spring 2013 collection was retro happy go lucky Japan. It Reminds me of the 1950's beatnik style with a modern futuristic twist, with the pastel floral prints, high necklines, Striped shirts, over sized sweaters, pencil skirts and skinny pants.

The collections concept was Utopia Paradise & Entomology(The Scientific Study of Insects). Not insects from Japan, but from a Tropical rain forest. Manly It reflects the rhinoceros beetle. You know a runway show is successful when you leave with an image stuck in your head. Watching This show gave me an image of a garden through an insects eyes. We definitely see the "Insectopia" theme with the devil-horned hair, abstract patterns, iridescent fabrics, unzipped beetle winged leather jacket, and cool futuristic dragon fly sunglasses.

The platform creeper shoes, vibrant and bold colors made the collection inherently Tokyo style.

Feel free to take a look at my Favorite looks from the 41 piece Collection
